Indecision is an interesting name for this Brooklyn thrash/hardcore band, for Release the Cure hardly sounds indecisive or hesitant. In fact, this extremely sociopolitical CD is as focused as it is intense. The music itself sounds quite angry -- Indecision's amelodic songs have a dense, claustrophobic quality, and even if you didn't understand a word of English, you'd get the impression that Indecision was full of anger. Recorded during the sweltering summer of 1999, Release the Cure is a scathing indictment of American society in the late 1990s. From materialism and corporate America to the health care industry, Indecision doesn't hesitate to express its rage. Some of Indecision's ideas are questionable -- the Brooklynites tread on thin ice when they get into conspiracy theories and allege that AIDS and other deadly diseases are part of some deep, dark government conspiracy.
But when Indecision rails against mindless materialism, the dumbing down of America, and the U.S.' Shortage of decent, affordable health care, you find yourself nodding in agreement. Make no mistake: Release the Cure is a consistently angry CD -- but it's angry in a generally intelligent, thought-provoking way.
