RingEdge is indeed a unique hardware, 90% bassed on PC, but with unique features: 1) It runs windows Xp Embeded standard 2009, not CE. 2) It has a custom BIOS dessigned for Sega with custom functions. 3) It has a custom board called EXTIO that is in charge of the comunication with the Keychip and has integrated the JVS interface. 4) It has custom video card Nvidia 9600GS with custom bios and with a low power dessgin that allows it to run it without the need of external power, just the power that can get from the PCI Slot. 5) The RingEdge OS is installed on a 32Gbytes SSD, TDK GBDriver RS2, that is hardware locked and has on the fly AES 256 hardware encription over the NandFlash chips. All the RingWide games can indeed run on the RingEdge or RingEdge2 motherboards.

As Chriscat says: 'security chips are harder to find as they are supposed to be always returned to sega if the games/cabinets are retired', for that reason there are some cheap ringedge boards latelly in yahoo auctions. The RingEdge is 100% JVS, but some games like The World of 3 Kingdoms are using USB I/O boards for control some special hardware like RGB led boards and the All.net RFID Card Readers. There are games, really amazing on that system, like ID7 and ID8.
