I have some experience in the field of Games development so I'm going to try to put together a team to try and produce a HL2 Modification based on the sport of Field Hockey. The site is a shell at the moment and initially everything will pretty much be collaborated through the site/facebook. If anyone is interested in contributing ideas, opinions and such feel free to join either of the groups listed on the homepage. Or we can just discuss it hear all ideas welcome. We'll be running polls from the name, an event it should be based around down to camera angles etc but not at least till later this week (Wed/Thursday). This should be interesting!!

Re: PC Field Hockey Game - Starting the planning for it. HL2 has a fully functional physics engine so it should just (I say just loosly) be a case of writing the effects properly to allow for the different strikes of the ball, flight etc. That will be one of the hard parts. Getting a pitch with 22 bodies on it is the relatively easy part. I think the interesting part will be the goal scoring as many will know you can score the odd flukey inside the half lob in Fifa etc. In ice hockey can you score from one end to the other if a defender doesn't touch it?

I know there is a rule where you can't just stick it up the other end (can't remeber the official term). My first step was going to be to get a Counter Strike Source map done based on a scaled field hockey pitch with flags goals etc with banners all around it promoting the game/ne14hockey.

Then the next step would be to start playing around with the engine and see what we can get done. This will help raise the awareness in the HL2 community whihc will help get people involved in developing the game, environments, models etc. Re: PC Field Hockey Game - Starting the planning for it. They are all good suggestions, which I have on my list. The biggest hurdle is this is not new ground for games by any means but it is pretty new for hockey a sport which always seems to struggle for media interest and publicity. Manufacturers won't throw money into something untried and untested.
